Earth, Wind & Fire … and Chicago?

On tap for tonight is a concert at the Greek Theater: Chicago with Earth, Wind & Fire.

I’m not sure how I feel about that. On the one hand, it’s Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire, two of the greatest hitmakers in 80’s Top 40 … but on the other hand, it’s Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire. Fortunately, Peter Cetera and Lionel Ritchie are sitting this one out … or unfortunately, depending on your perspective.

On top of that, we’re going with some of Beth’s co-workers, who also used to be my co-workers, and one of them is my former manager whom I absolutely could not stand working with and have managed to go 10 years without having any kind of contact with her despite the fact that Beth works with her daily. So I’m really looking forward to that. But on the other hand we’re getting the tickets for free. (I think. We’d better be. Mental note: check on that, use as possible excuse for bailing if not true.)

And on top of that, we’re meeting them for dinner before the show.

This is gonna be great. One way or another. It’ll be either a great time or a great story. Great.

No dear, we’re paying for our tickets. Are you bailing yet?

Of course, crticial to the story is that I told you everyone who was going before you agreed to go, you just weren’t listening to me (for a change) and are now balking and acting like you had no clue.

Well, if you want to play the “How informed is Chuck, really?” game, should we mention that first you told me the concert was A) last week, and B) on Wednesday? And then last Wednesday when I actually remembered that “Hey, aren’t we going to that concert tonight?” you decided to share that it was, in fact A) this week, and B) on Tuesday?

  3. beth says:

OK, so you listen sometimes. But in my defense, they did play last week, Wednesday. It’s just that we’re going this week, Tuesday. It was a test. You passed. Go you.

I hope you two are out on the town … having fun … together … tonight.

Hey Chuck … how would you respond to playing poker at my house in Pomona one of these nights? I’m thinking of arranging like a $50 buy in from a bunch of guys who know how to play hold ’em and doing a winner-take all sorta thing. Sound like fun?

  5. Chuck says:

Jim — Yes, it sounds fun and I’m totally up for it … except for the Pomona part. Dayum, that’s a drive from Sherman Oaks. But what the hell, keep me in the loop and I might be able to make it.
